About Monique

Early in my life, I was an avid reader. The schools I went to all had Scholastic Book Services in them, and while my classmates ordered a book or two, I always had my own box. I was voracious. Books were my outlet of escape and insight into the world at large.

In 1996 I was in a car accident and I sustained a head injury. One of the results of that injury was that I could not retain anything I read in fiction. I couldn’t remember the story lines and when I finished reading a page I couldn’t tell you what I read. I was devastated.

Years later, when Twilight came out and there was such a buzz about it, I had an overwhelming feeling that I should get the books. Why, I don’t know, I just felt compelled to get them. So I did. And I was able to read again. I retained the story. Whatever glitch there was in my brain had worked itself out and my beloved reading was part of my life again.

When I broke down and bought my Kindle, I discovered more worlds through indie-published ebooks. I read even more with it and because Amazon offers so many books for free, I read new genres and discovered new subjects to pursue. My Kindle has opened the world up to me. I have embarked on my freelance writing career because of it (MoniqueEgelhoff-Freelance Writer).

This site is dedicated to the fiction books I read. Most are books I have found, but some are books that I’ve been asked to review. I have a policy that I will only review books positively, and as such won’t provide negative reviews. Maybe that view will change over time. Right now, If I get a book that is not good, I’ll pan it on Amazon where I am “anonymous”, but I won’t review it here. Mom always said if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything  all.

I encourage you to share your views on a review I’ve made, and to suggest  literary gems you’ve  found. One of the joys of books is sharing them with others.

Welcome to a part of my world.
